Prefer adventure on your own terms? Our quad rental service in Essaouira lets you take the controls and explore the surroundings at your own pace, without a guide. Ideal for experienced riders or those who have already joined a guided tour and want to return to their favourite trails. Every rental includes a recent quad (Yamaha or Honda, automatic), an approved helmet, and a mandatory 15-minute safety briefing before departure. We provide a map of authorised trails and clear instructions on restricted zones (nature reserve, beach at high tide, inhabited areas). Self-drive quad rental is subject to conditions: you must be at least 21 years old, present valid ID, and sign a liability waiver. A security deposit of 2000 EUR is required when you collect the quad and refunded on return if no damage is found. Essaouira's coastal terrain — compact sand, rolling dunes, and forest tracks — rewards confident riders who respect the rules and ride responsibly. Hotel pickup is not included with rental, but our base is a short drive or taxi ride from the medina and beachfront hotels.

Our quad rental packages
Three packages adapt to your schedule. The 1-hour rental (350 MAD) is perfect for a quick discovery of trails near our base: compact tracks, small dunes, and ocean views. The half-day (4h, 900 MAD) gives you time to reach the beach, coastal dunes, and the edge of the thuya forest. It is the most popular option for self-drive renters. The full day (8h, 1500 MAD) offers complete freedom: leave early in the morning, stop for lunch wherever you like (we recommend the best spots), and return in the late afternoon. Each quad accommodates one driver and one passenger at no extra charge. Fuel is included for the rental period. Before you leave, our team walks you through the map, explains tide restrictions for beach access, and shares emergency contact details. You ride independently, but help is always a phone call away on authorised trails.
Terms and responsibilities
Self-drive rental involves greater responsibility. Once the briefing is complete, you are in charge of your route and your safety. Authorised trails are clearly marked on the map provided at departure — leaving these zones incurs a penalty and may void insurance coverage. Speed is limited to 40 km/h on tracks and 25 km/h on sand. Wearing a helmet is mandatory at all times. In case of breakdown or incident, phone assistance is available 7 days a week — we reach authorised trails in under 30 minutes. Damage to the quad is charged to the renter up to the security deposit limit. We strongly recommend self-drive rental only for people with prior off-road riding experience. Essaouira's wind, sand, and changing tides require good judgement even on familiar routes. Respect local residents, wildlife, and the argan groves — stay on marked paths at all times.
Why rent instead of a guided tour?
Rental suits you if you want to repeat a route you already know, prefer long photo stops without a group, or are a couple seeking an intimate experience on the coast. On the other hand, if it is your first time on a quad or you do not know the area, we strongly recommend a guided tour or ride: the guide adds considerable value (tide knowledge, best spots, local weather) that a map alone cannot replace. Many of our clients start with a guided tour and return for a rental the next day — that is the ideal combination. Self-drive also works well for experienced riders staying several days in Essaouira who want flexibility between medina visits and coastal exploration. Whichever you choose, our quads are well maintained, fully insured, and ready for the Atlantic terrain that makes Essaouira unlike any other quad destination in Morocco.
